Ezella Pitts Buxton, age 85, died at Bay Center Nursing Home, on Monday, July 21st, 2014.
She was born to Isaac Chester Pitts and Rosa Lee Lewis Pitts in Millville, FL, on January 31, 1929.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Sidney Jackson Buxton, and by 3 children, 10 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren. Surviving children are: Joseph Buxton & wife Katie, William Buxton & wife Joan; and one daughter, Elizabeth Sanders.
Surviving grandchildren are: Lora Knollmueller & husband David, Dana Sowell & husband Robin, Bryan Buxton & wife Vickie, James Bass & wife Georgia, Ben Buxton and wife Danielle, Frank Adkinson, and wife Courtney, Leigh Jarvis & husband Matt, Marc Adkinson and wife Erin, Darren Crisp & wife Michelle, and Will Sanders.
She is also survived by 3 sisters, Dorothy Sellers, Francis Terry, and Dale McKenzie, and 3 brothers, Ronnie Pitts, Hulon Pitts, and Emery Pitts, and a few score nephews, nieces, and cousins.
She is predeceased by 5 sisters, Edith Pitts, Catherine Thomason, Jonell Rogers, Mildred Taylor, and Imogene Walters; and one brother, Allison Buel Pitts.
Ezella became a nurse after her children were grown, graduating from Gulf Coast Community College with honors as a Registered Nurse in 1972. She achieved the honor of becoming a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and named in the "Who's Who of Junior Colleges". Ezella lived a life of excellence and hard work in all that she did. Becoming an accomplished RN was only a small part of her real achievements.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bobby Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday from 10 – 11 a.m. prior to the service.
