Sarah Olive Liddell "Sally" Finklea

Sally passed away July 31, 2014, in Tallahassee, Fla., after an extended illness. She was born in Mount Vernon, Ohio, on Dec. 3, 1917, to Charles W. Liddell and Ella Powell Liddell.

Sally is survived by her daughter, Patricia F. Crooke; son, John Thomas Finklea (Norma); grandson, John W. Crooke II (Kimberly); and great grandchildren, Carson I. Crooke and Caroline E. Crooke. She is predeceased by her husband, Henry L. Finklea; parents, Charles and Ella Liddell; step-father, Thomas Whitfield; brother, James C. Liddell (Elizabeth); and son-in-law, John D. Crooke.

Sally grew up in Shreveport, La., and married Henry on May 1, 1937, while he was stationed at Barksdale AFB, Boise City, La. She was a long time resident of Panama City until moving to Tallahassee in 1998. She belonged to Northside Baptist Church, Panama City, Fla. Sally was active in her church, teaching Sunday School and working with vacation Bible school. She worked as clerk/cashier for Hentz Dairy. She was a life member of Panama City Order of Eastern Star Chapter 102, Panama City, Fla.

Graveside services will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Panama City, Fla., on Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, at noon.

A memorial service will be held at St. Augustine Plantation Assisted Living, Tallahassee, Fla., on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014 at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lighthouse Children?s Home, 7771 Mahan Drive, Tallahassee, Fla.; or Food Ministry, Crawfordville United Methodist Church, Post Office Box 37, Crawfordville, Florida 32326.
