Retired Colonel George B. Hanson was born June 25, 1929 in Charleston, West Virginia and was taken from us August 17, 2014 at Mathison Retirement Center. Col. Hanson has been a resident of Panama City for 2 years, moving to the area from Hampton, Virginia. Col. Hanson retired from the United States Air Force after 38 years of service having served in the Korean War. He was Master Mason, Shriner, Member of Mensa, and loved playing music, especially the clarinet and saxophone. Col. Hanson was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his beloved wife of over 62 years Jean Nolen Hanson of Williamsburg, West Virginia, sons Dr. Jon Gregory Hanson (Linda) and Dr. Michael David Hanson (Cathie), as well as his grandchildren Matthew Hanson (Kirsten), Kaley Hanson, Christopher Hanson, and Caroline Hanson.

A Graveside Service will begin at 5:30 PM Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at the Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery.
