Daniel Blumer Obituary

Daniel Joseph Blumer was born Dec. 3, 1918, in Queens, N.Y., and died Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, in Fayetteville, N.C.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in India and China during World War II as a communications specialist. Daniel retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a rural carrier after many years of service. He was a member of St. Andrew Baptist Church.

Mr. Blumer was preceded in death by his wife, Mary W. Blumer of Panama City, Fla., who passed away June 28, 2003. Survivors include a sister, Joan Faber of Sayville, N.Y.; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Vicky Blumer of Fayetteville, N.C.; one grandson; and two great-grandsons.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Mike Claunch officiating. Military honors will be afforded by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today, Jan. 8, 2009, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association, 2711 Breezewood Ave., Suite A, Fayette-ville NC 28303, in Daniel J. Blumer's memory.
