Amanda Jensen Obituary

Amanda Margaret "Mandy" Jensen, 53, of Panama City Beach, Fla., died Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, in Panama City Beach, Fla.
She was born Dec. 22, 1956, in Andalusia, Ala.

Adventurous and free-spirited, Mandy had a passion for trying new things. Her artistry and creativity were revealed in her writing, music, her home decor, designing and making jewelry and clothes. She loved cooking, flower gardening and creating an atmosphere of comfort and welcome in her home.

Mandy had an overwhelming love for her family, friends and animals, and a compassionate and generous heart. Her compassion extended to family, friends and people who were in need. Mandy was especially known for her gift of "healing hands" therapy, which provided pain relief to so many. Her bright light will shine forever in our hearts.

Survivors include her husband, Derrick Jensen; son, Davis Jensen; mother, Margaret Shelley; father, Joe Breck Gantt and wife, Anne; sister, Gretchen Franco; niece, Alexis Franco; and many cousins and friends.

Visitation with the family will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, followed by a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Andalusia with the Rev. Tim Trent presiding.

This is such an unexpected and shocking loss. She was too young to be taken away under such tragic circumstances. Her passing saddens me to no ends. The fact that it was so soon after her birthday and just on New Year's Eve only hightlights the fact of how fragile and prescious life really is! I am soo sorry for her family's loss, my thoughts and prayers are with them.

I think she was beautiful both inside and out, a great soul that will be deeply missed! Rest In Peace for ever and ever! My condolences to her family and friends! Love always!

I found out about Amanda's death online after a year
in treatment for an epileptic seizure. I met her on
numerous occasions, and was thrilled to discover that
she had spent the last 10 years taking care of her
family. She was one of the most special people I have
ever met in my life. God bless her and her family.

I wish to express my condolences to such a wonderful person. I met Amanda many year's ago when she worked in California. She always brought a smile to everyone in the room. And she always treated everyone as family or friend. And though I along with all her friends here in Southern California cry because of her loss, at the same time we all shed tears of pride knowing that we are the lucky ones who are blessed in having to know such a wonderful and amazing person. Her smile and her voice will forever live in our minds..... Chuck Hayashi ( Monterey Park, California )

Dear Mandy's Family,

Your wonderful daughter was a friend and constant inspiration to me in San Francisco in the 1980s. I am so very sorry to hear of her loss. We both had children since we saw each other last, and I bet she was so a devoted mom, just like she was such a great friend.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal but love leaves a memory no one can steal. I pray for you and Davis during this time of grief and hope that you can derive comfort that Amanda lived a blessed life with you during her time here on earth and would want you both to remember the best of times and keep her spirit alive. Through our Lord Jesus Christ and his promise that our lives do not end and our spirit continues and we will all see her again. Dean in Texas
