Mr. David Faison Jr. went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 16, 2011, at 11:15 a.m. at his home.

David Jr. was born May 27, 1933, in Wewahitchka, Fla., to David Sr. and Classier Faison. He graduated from Carver High School in Wewa. He also attended Tom P. Haney Vo-Tech receiving a Certified Electrician Diploma.

He served his community and church through two careers. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1953 at age 19. He attained the rank of Sgt. First Class and received numerous meritorious service awards. He retired from the U.S. Army and Tyndall Air Force Base.
David Jr. was married and very devoted to his loving wife, Hazel, for 55 years. He loved the Lord, his family and his church, Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church. He accepted Christ at an early age and remained a faithful member until his death. David Jr. was always known as being on time and available in the house of the Lord. As a member of Mt. Zion, he served as a Ward Leader, Superintendent of Sunday School, Banking Committee member and on numerous other boards.

David Jr. was preceded in death by his parents, David Sr. and Classie Faison; one daughter, Vernell Jones Faison; one sister, Sarah Faison-Refour; and one brother, Benjamin Faison.

He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife, Hazel Faison; three sons, Wilbert A. Faison and Ricky R. Faison, both of Panama City, and Kelvin T. Faison of New Port Richey, Fla.; three granddaughters, Chemere Davis, Christioona Faison and Kelsea Faison; two grandsons, Christopher and Marquise Faison; five brothers, Horace Faison (Thelma), James Faison (Henrietta) and William A. Faison (Catherine), all of Panama City, Fla., Larry Faison and Freddie Faison, both of Boston, Mass.; four sisters, Betty Faison Scott (Ivory) of Albany, Ga., Mary A. Faison-Blount (Lemon) of Claxton, Ga., Tenna Faison Catlin (Dorrill) of Salem, Ohio and Luverne Faison of Birmingham, Ala.; devoted brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Rufus and Bessie Barnes of Panama City, Fla.; brother-in-law, Clarence Simmons (Catherine) of Fort Meyers, Fla.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and very special friends. Those who called him "daddy," Sunday Scott Davis, Terelyn Clark Crittendon, Evangelist Wanda Ware and Verna Williams of Panama City, Fla., and Susan Faison of Dallas, Texas.

Funeral services for Mr. Faison will be held Saturday, April 23, 2011, at 1 p.m. at Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church with Pastor Huet Sampson officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. Public visitation will begin today from 1 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to funeral services at the church.
