Mr. Ronald Dean Strickland, 66, of Fountain, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2012, at his residence.

Mr. Strickland was born Feb. 15, 1946. in Shreveport, La., to Clovis and Ruth Strickland. He retired from the United States Army in 1990 and The FDOC, River Junction Facility, Snead, Fla., in 2009. Mr. Strickland belonged to George Washington Masonic Lodge #585 in Vicenza, Italy where he served as Grand Master. He was a member of Fountain United Methodist Church. Ron was a loving, devoted, attentive husband and "Dad." The love, caring and compassion he carried for his family and co-workers, friends and mankind in general was a wonderful and touching thing to behold.

His love of his Savior Jesus Christ rubbed off on all he knew. He wore his faith humbly and displayed it in his gentle ways and it showed in his marriage, work and friendships. He truly lived it each and every day. Mr. Strickland was never prideful or boastful. He saw the good in everyone. He bragged on each endeavor of each person he knew and encouraged all to be all you can be. Mr. Strickland will be missed by all who were blessed to know him. He is not lost to any of us. We know where he now rejoices.

Mr. Strickland is preceded in death by his parents, Clovis and Ruth Strickland; and brothers, Lucky and Mike Strickland. He is survived by his wife, Paula "Aline" Strickland of Fountain, Fla., originally from Buena Vista, Ga.; two sons, Charles (Chuck) Glen Strickland and wife Ronda Saunders and David Benjamin Strickland and wife Brandi Brooks of Hogansville, Ga.; daughter, Kimberly Starr Strickland of Columbus, Ga.; three grandchildren, Charles Glen Strickland and wife Karissa Mons, Patrick Dean Strickland (senior next year in school), and Brooke Strickland (2 years old in June), all of Hogansville, Ga.; and sister, Patricia MacDonald of Arkansas.
