Joe Addison Bennett, 56, of Panama City, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2013, at his home.

Joe was born in Panama City, but grew up in Tarpon Springs, graduating from Tarpon Springs High School. He was a US Army veteran, and worked as a shipbuilder before moving back to Panama City to be primary caregiver for his parents. Joe attended Lynn Haven UMC, and loved animals, sports, and spending time with his family. He adored his daughter Rachel who would always bring a smile to his face. Joe will be greatly missed by his family and friends who loved him.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Laura Ruth McClain, a nephew, Jason Horner, niece, Ali Knorr, and brothers-in-law, Lenny Knorr and Chuck McClain.

Survivors include his parents, Joe J. and Elberta Bennett of Panama City; his wife Alisa Bennett and their children Andrew and Rachel, all of Tarpon Springs; sisters, Debbie Hoving (Mike) of Lynn Haven and Pam Knorr of Panama City Beach; his brothers, Mark and Scott Bennett, both of Panama City; nephews, Jeremy and Jacob Hoving and Jeff, Christian,and Justin Bennett; nieces Ashley and Jessica Hoving, Angela Knorr, and Christina Colby McClain; aunt Mae Evans of Lynn Haven; an uncle, Jack Bell of Lynn Haven; special sister-in-law, Sue Bennett of Spring Hill and former sister-in-law, Kathy Bennett of Panama City.

Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM Thursday May 9, 2013, at the Lynn Haven United Methodist Church with Dr. Jim Luther officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 PM until service time at 2:00. Asked to serve as pallbearers are Scott Bennett, Jeremy Hoving, Justin Bennett, Andrew Bennett, Michael Hoving and John Evans. Honorary pallbearers are Jacob Hoving, Jeffery, Christian, and Mark Bennett, Greg Davis, Gerald, Jimmy and Mike Gilbert, Shane Patterson, David Mills, Jr., John Webb, Greg Davis and Stuart Barron. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joe's name may be made to the Bay County Special Olympics.
