Douglas Paul Dick, 85, left this earth peacefully for heaven on July 30, 2013.

Doug was born on June 29, 1928 in Albertville, Minnesota to his parents, Ben and Martha Dick. He graduated in 1946 from St. John's Prep School in Collegeville, Minnesota. After high school he worked with his father delivering for Standard Oil. Doug served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his military service ended in 1951, he chose to settle in Panama City after seeing the beautiful beaches and meeting his wife Lois Johnson. They were married at St. Dominic Catholic Church in 1953. Doug and Lois owned and operated the Chicken Ranch drive-in restaurant across from Bay High School in the early 1950s. His restaurant career included managing local landmarks such as the Holiday Lodge, Buccaneer, St. Andrew Bay Yacht Club and finally the Four Winds until their retirement in 1991. He always thought of his employees and customers as his extended family.

Doug was an active member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the Lion's Club. He was also a member of the Florida Gators Booster Club and was an honorary member of the Panama City Downtown Rotary Club. He volunteered for 15 years for the Bay County Council on Aging delivering Meals on Wheels and he was a dedicated blood donor. Doug's passions were cooking family dinners on Sunday night, Florida Gator football and fishing.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Lois Johnson Dick; four children, Marc Dick, Theresa Willis, Steve Dick (Cheryl), and Paul Dick (Anne); and 8 grandchildren, Ryan Willis, Aaron Dick, Christopher Dick (Katherine), Meghan Gonzalez (Max), Allison Vander Molen (Skyler), Lindsay Kolsch (Denny), Amy Dick, and Douglas Paul Dick II. He is also survived by his sister, Laverne Beaudry (Earl) and many loving relatives and friends, whom he loved very much.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Dolores Beaudry.

The family will receive friends at St. Dominic Catholic Church on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 9:00 am followed by a Memorial Mass at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Dominic Catholic Church or the Bay County Council on Aging. Doug will be inurned in Albertville, Minnesota, beside his parents.
