Kathleen R. Cook, the "Queen of Panama City Beach" passed away Sunday evening at Gulf Coast Medical Center.
Kathleen was born in Pittsburgh, PA and lived at Panama City Beach since 1995. She was a parishioner at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, and was active in many organizations. Kathleen enjoyed the Red Hat Club, where she was "Queen Mum", the Panama City Garden Club, where she was Past President, the Republican Women's Association, Parkinson's League, TOPS, KOPS, the Parrothead Club,
, was an active member of the Panama City Beach Senior Center, the VFW Woman's Auxiliary and a was a proud member of the Steeler Nation.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Cook, a brother, Joseph Blacksmith, and 2 sisters, Ellen Blacksmith and Shirley Ament.
Survivors include her son, Timothy Cook of Panama City Beach; her nephews, Joe Ament and wife Peg, and Billy Ament, all of Pittsburgh, PA; and her cousin and namesake, Kathleen Martin and husband Jimmy "Bubba" of Atlanta, GA. Kathleen was much loved, and will be greatly missed by many, many friends.
A funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 AM Thursday, August 7, 2014, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church with Fr. Ted Sosnowski officiating. Burial will follow in Pittsburgh, PA at a later date. The family will receive friends at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Kathleen's name may be made to either the
