TREVORTON — The beautiful soul of Jared James Wood passed on from this world on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013.
He was born Sept. 21, 1994, and is survived by all four of his parents, Heidi Whitley and Jessica Trader, as well as David Wood and Nicholas Norris.
Jared was a worldly guy who lived many places and traveled very often, and, as such, he has touched lives in these many places. Jared most recently resided in Trevorton, where he was a recent graduate of Line Mountain High School, class of 2012. He graduated with honors in computers from Northumberland County Career and Technology Center. Jared loved his friends and his teammates on the Line Mountain football and basketball teams.
He was a kind and considerate person who only wanted peace and happiness for everyone around him. Jared's smile and sense of humor will be sadly missed.
Jared leaves behind a very large and loving family. Surviving are his great-grandmother, Gertrude Chase, of Absecon, N.J.; his paternal grandparents, Eloise and Joseph Wood, of Hammonton, N.J., and his maternal grandparents, Joan Whitley, of Tremont, and Henry and Carol Whitley, of Wagener, S.C. He also leaves behind an aunt, Suzanne Midgette and Melissa Sherman, an uncle, Thomas Whitley and Sarah Carl, an aunt, Joey Carmen and uncle, Ed Carmen, and an uncle, Fred Wood. Cousins include Erika, Alexandra, Brenden, Serenity, Jada, Kaili, Kaya, Julianna, Gianna, Brittany and Megan. Jared also brought a joy and light into the life of his girlfriend, Sara Reed.

I remember Jared everyday. His smile, his amazing sense of humor, his all around resilient personality. As I watched Jared grow, I shared some of the most special memories. Watching him play football, interact with his friends, and so many more wonderful thoughts. Jared, you are my shining star. Even though you are no longer here with your mom & I, I know that you are dancing free, laughing, and helping someone smile. I will forever miss you, and think of you when special songs & movies play. I'll miss your infectious smile, jokes that I sometimes never got, and you teasing me for just being me. Help mommy to see that you are OK. Noodles misses sleeping with you at night, and Bug too! You are still our shining star! Love always, Jess

I met Jared on the 4th of July picnic at the Marina in Sunbury pa in the year 2012. I can say he was a very nice kid and took the time at that picnic and played with all of my kids that range from 4yrs old to 13 yrs old playing baseball, football and never met them before but took the time to put smiles on my kids faces. Thank you Jared and we all one day will see you again...

Jared was my neighbor, my sons' friend and a frequent visitor to the huka lounge. He really had a beautiful smile and a funky sense of humor. He always requested tacos and crab soup when he was there. Those dishes will forever be prepared in his honor.
