KULPMONT — Agnes M. Bressi, 97, of 546 Pine St., died Saturday evening, March 8, 2014, at Emmanuel Center For Nursing and Rehabilitation, Danville.
She was ill for the past two weeks.
She was born in Mount Carmel, Jan. 21, 1917, a daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Kaczmarek) Griglock.
She was resident of Kulpmont most of her life.
She was a bookkeeper for a manufacturing plant in Mount Carmel until 1941, and then worked with her husband at the family business, Bressi's Market in Kulpmont.
On Aug. 4, 1941, in St. John the Baptist Church, Mount Carmel, she married Anthony A. Bressi Sr., who died July 6, 2001.
She was educated in St. John the Baptist Parochial School and graduated in 1936 from Mount Carmel High School.
Agnes was a member of Holy Angels Church, Kulpmont, and Catholic Daughters of America.
She enjoyed painting, needlework, baking and cooking.
She delighted in being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the loves of her life. Her family meant the world to her.
Agnes also was active in church work.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors include two sons, Anthony Bressi and his wife, Cynthia, of Kulpmont, and Paul Bressi and his wife, Patricia, of Torrance, Calif.; a daughter, Carol Berger, of Kensington, Md.; seven grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Anthony Bressi III; three sons who died in infancy; two sisters, and three brothers.
BRESSI — Agnes M. Bressi, 97, of 546 Pine St., Kulpmont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday in Holy Angels Church, Kulpmont, with the Rev. Andrew Stahmer as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Kulpmont. Viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, and 9 to 10:45 a.m. Friday in the C.J. Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 1053 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, C.J. Lucas, supervisor. Rosary will recited at 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
