ATLAS — Albert R. Colross, 65, of 104 E. Columbia Ave., passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014, at his residence with his family at his side. He had been ill for the past two years.
He was born June 5, 1948, in Shamokin Hospital, a son of the late Albert M. and Helen L. (Klucznik) Colross.
He was a 1966 graduate of Mount Carmel High School. In 1966, he received a diploma from the National School of Meat Cutting.
On Oct. 14, 1989, in St. Joseph Church, Locust Gap, he married Carol Ann Birster, who survives.
Albert worked for 32 years at Mountain View Manor, Trevorton Road.
He was a member of Divine Redeemer Church.
He served one term as vice-president of the AFSCME union, and was a lifetime member of the Pasttime Club. Albert loved sports and cookouts with family and friends.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Albert R. Colross III, of Shamokin, and Jared M. Colross, at home; a daughter, Michelle L. Troutman, of Mount Carmel; eight grandchildren, Amanda Colross, James Colross, Sierra Colross, Shyanna Colross, Michael Troutman, Roy Troutman, Christina Troutman and Zach Wagner; a great-grandson, Michael Troutman Jr.; a sister, Lorraine Horsfield and her husband, Carl, of Mount Carmel; two nieces, two nephews, two great-nieces and a great-nephew.
COLROSS — Albert R. Colross, 65, of 104 E. Columbia Ave., Atlas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celbrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at Divine Redeemer Church, Mount Carmel, with the Rev. Martin O. Moran as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Mount Carmel Township. Viewing will be from 8 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday in the C.J. Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 27 N. Vine St., Mount Carmel, C.J. Lucas IV, supervisor. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Divine Redeemer Church, 438 W. Avenue, Mount Carmel 17851.
