Alma Dorothy Zosh

MOUNT CARMEL — Alma Dorothy Zosh, 90, of 231 E. Avenue, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at home with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Shamokin, Nov. 28, 1922, a daughter of the late William and Frances (Nadolny) Stawicki.

She was educated in St. Stephens's School, Shamokin, and was a former member of St. Joseph's Church and a member of Church of Our Lady, both of Mount Carmel, the Paularians, a former member of local club auxiliaries and worked for church festivals.

On April 21, 1945, in St. Stephen's Church, Shamokin, Alma married the late Thomas E. Zosh, Sr.

She was employed as an examiner for Lady Jane, JK Operating.

She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, family get-togethers and helping others. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Alma was truly an unbelievably, remarkable woman.

Survivors include her children, Theresa (Zosh) Yanonis and her husband, Ed Dersavage, of Mount Carmel, Thomas E. Zosh Jr. and his wife, Maryann, of Mount Carmel, Debra Moser and her husband, Ron, of Natalie, Mark A. Zosh and his wife, Tammy, of Kulpmont; a brother, William Stawicki and his wife, Betty, of Shamokin; a sister, Eleanor Clark, of Baltimore, Md.; a sister-in-law, Rita Herr and her husband, Ralph, of Montoursville; eight grandchildren, Tom Zosh III and wife, Dana, of Shamokin, Ron Moser and his wife, Patti, of Mount Carmel, Lisa M. Bogetti and her husband, Jeremy, of Gowen City, John Kovalovich and his wife, Alexis, of New Mexico, Kenny Moser and his wife, Amanda, of Elysburg, Jarad Yanonis and fiancé, Barb Miller, of Mount Carmel, Mark Zosh Jr., of Mount Carmel, and Brett Zosh, of Kulpmont; nine great-grandchildren, Michael and Matthew Zosh, of Shamokin, Trent and Dalton Moser, of Mount Carmel, Mikaela, Jonny and Natalia Kovalovich, of New Mexico, Roz Moser, of Elysburg, and Brandon Moore, of Mount Carmel.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Kashinowski and Dorothy Wondoloski, and two brothers, Frank Skotko and Anthony Stawicki.


ZOSH — Alma Dorothy Zosh, 90, of 231 E. Avenue, Mt. Carmel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Church of Our Lady, 47 S. Market St., Mount Carmel, with the Rev. Francis Karwacki as celebrant. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Bear Gap. Viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday with a prayer service at 7:45 p.m., and from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at the C.J. Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 27 N. Vine St., Mount Carmel, C.J.
