Anna E. Plempel

COAL TOWNSHIP — Anna E. Plempel, 97, of Coal Township, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2013, at Mountain View: A Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born Jan. 6, 1916, in Altoona, she was a daughter of the late Oliver and Olive Evans.

She graduated from Altoona High School and attended the Zeth Commercial School, Altoona.

Anna married Robert Plempel, who preceded her in death Jan. 12, 1974.

She was formerly employed as a secretary for the Jewel Tea Company, the Altoona School District, the United Way of Altoona and the Shamokin School District.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Shamokin, and a former member and officer in the Coal Township High Rise Association. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ, and making oil paintings.

Surviving are a son, Lee Plempel and his wife, Kay, of Paxinos; three grandchildren, Cyndi DuBois and her husband, Colin, Patty Plempel and Judy Stewart and her husband, James, and six great-grandchildren, Cassandra, Gabriel, Coty, Caddity, Nathaniel and Cameron.

PLEMPEL — Anna E. Plempel, 97, of Coal Township. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury. Interment will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Newry Lutheran Cemetery, Newry. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 p.m. to the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
