MOUNT CARMEL — Anna May (Carl) Owens, 88, of Mount Carmel, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013. She died suddenly at home only three weeks after being released from a three-month stay at the Mount Carmel Senior Living Community.
Born in Snydertown, Jan. 22, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Lester J. and Alice M. (Lehman) Carl.
She was a member of the former St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Mount Carmel, and a current member of the Mountainside Assembly of God Church, Coal Township.
As a young woman, Anna worked as a welder at the defense plant in Philadelphia during World War II and later worked in various local factories.
She was a past worthy matron in the Chrysanthemum Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.
Surviving are a daughter, Jacqueline Heromin and her husband, Stephen, of Harrisburg; two sons, Gary and his wife, Debora, of Mifflinburg, and Todd and his wife, Lisa, of Mount Carmel; a sister, Jane Dobson and her husband, Joseph, of Aston; three granddaughters, Beth Readler and her husband, Dean, of Lebanon, Amy Santelli-Ramp and her husband, Kevin, of Mount Carmel, and Melissa Owens, of Harrisburg; two great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Owens, in 1981; a daughter, Carol Santelli, and a brother, Kenneth Lee Carl.
