MOUNT CARMEL — Anna T. Yakup, 97, formerly of 24 E. Fourth St., died Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at Mount Carmel Senior Living Center, Mount Carmel.
Born in Mount Carmel, July 21, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Victoria (Griscavage) Wondoloski and a stepdaughter of the late Walter Pinkowski.
She was educated in Our Mother of Consolation School.
On Sept. 27, 1933, in Our Mother of Consolation Church, Mount Carmel, Anna married Joseph S. Yakup, who preceded her in death July 24, 1990.
She was employed as a sewer and supervisor for Wilburton Manufacturing Co., having worked in the garment industry for 46 years.She later owned and operated Yakup's Cafe with her late husband, Joseph.
Prior to living in Mount Carmel she was a resident of Wilburton No. 1.
Anna was a former member of Our Mother of Consolation Church, was most recently a member of Divine Redeemer Church and also a member of the Polish Cultural Club and Mount Carmel Senior Action Center.
Survivors include a son, Joseph A. Yakup, and his wife, Theresa, of Somerville, N.J.; a granddaughter, Linda Epstein, and her husband, Steven, of Metuchen, N.J.; a grandson, Joseph J. Yakup, and his wife, Melissa, of Point Pleasant, N.J.; four great-grandchildren, Terri Ann Rentiers, and her husband, Bill, Sara Yakup, Mitchel Epstein and Anna Yakup; two great-great-grandchildren, Kailyn Grace and Tyler Joseph.
In addition to her parents, stepfather and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, JoAnn Yakup, in 1992; an infant son, Ronald Yakup; two brothers, Henry Pinkowski and Walter Pinkowski, and three sisters, Jean Kaminski, Jeanette Stabinski and Mildred Strantz.
YAKUP — Anna T. Yakup, 97, formerly of 24 E. Fourth St., Mount Carmel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Divine Redeemer Church, 300 W. Avenue, Mount Carmel, with the Rev. John A. Szada Jr. as celebrant. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Bear Gap.
