SHAMOKIN — Anthony J. "Tony" Wilk, 62, of 612 N. Shamokin St., died Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at his residence.
He was born in Shamokin, July 7, 1950, a son of the late Florian and Clara (Gekoskie) Wilk.
He was a graduate of Shamokin Area High School, and lived his entire life in the Shamokin/Coal Township area.
For a time he was employed with the Northumberland County Weatherization Department. Most recently, he was employed by the Shamokin Area School District until his retirement in 2012.
He was of the Christian faith.
Tony was a member of the West End and Independence fire companies, St. Francis Home Association and Pastime Club, of Shamokin, and the Fairview Gun Club, of Coal Township.
He was an avid fan of NASCAR, especially both Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Jr. Each spring, he looked forward to a summer of camping at Pillow. He also enjoyed socializing with his many friends in the area.
Tony is survived by a brother, Vincent Wilk and wife, Sandra, of Shamokin; two nieces, Kathie Green and her husband, William, and Nancy Braham and her husband, Douglas; a nephew, John Wilk and his wife, Tonia; six great-nieces and nephews, Alyssa, Katelyn, and Jared Green, Carley and Chase Braham, and Danielle Wilk; and two very good friends, Dave Stank and Bob "Bear" Persing.
WILK — Anthony J. "Tony" Wilk, 62, of 612 N. Shamokin St., Shamokin. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Stephen A. Chowka Funeral Home, 114 N. Shamokin St., Shamokin, with the Rev. Ted Plott officiating. Interment will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Coal Township. Visitations will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the donor's favorite charity.
