Arlene M. Brown

Arlene M. Brown, 89, formerly of 124 Main St., Klingerstown, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013 at ManorCare, Sunbury.

Arlene was born in Klingerstown, on April 25, 1924. She was a daughter of the late Vinnie (Klinger) Strohecker and Raymond Seiger and was raised by her grandparents, W.O. and Pearl Mable Klinger.

She owned and operated Arlene Brown's Beauty Shop, Klingerstown, for 50 years and had previously been employed at Carl's Store in Spring Glen, Boyer's Butcher Shop in Klingerstown and Dormar Manufacturing, Gratz.

She was a member of Salem Church of Rough and Ready, Klingerstown, and the Idella Rebekah Lodge 58 of Dorsife.

She enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great grandsons and playing cards with friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry S. Brown, who died on September 12, 1994.

Arlene is survived by a daughter, Elaine Reed, of Wiconisco; a son, Lynn Brown, of East Pittsburgh; four grandchildren, Pastor Michael Reed of Trafford, Michelle and her husband John Rautzahn of Williamstown; Matthew Brown and Samantha Brown; two great-grandsons, John Franklin and Joseph Rautzahn of Williamstown; three half sisters, Faye Wilkinson, Mabel Thomas and Lucille Maurer; a half brother, Albert Strohecker Jr. and one aunt, Eva Brown.

She was preceded by four half brothers, Marlin Klinger, Robert, Lawrence and Mark Strohecker and one half sister, Alma (Peg) Bordner.

A celebration of life service was held at Salem Church of Rough and Ready, 11 Church Road, Klingerstown, with her grandson, Pastor Michael Reed officiating. Interment was in Salem Cemetery.
