Barbara Ann Schoenberger

COAL TOWNSHIP — Barbara Ann Schoenberger, 88, of Overlook Ridge, passed away May 12, 2013, at Mountain View: A Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Saginaw, Mich., Aug. 24, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Homer Dwight Dodge and Frances Bertha Hitter. She graduated from Saginaw High School.

Barbara was married June 4, 1955, to Richard Stephen Schoenberger, who preceded her in death in 2009.

She worked in management for Michigan Bell Telephone Company for many years.

Barbara was a master bridge player who belonged to several bridge clubs and did volunteer work for the Lutheran Village "Cookie Ladies," often buying or baking cookies for the residents. Barbara and Richard belonged to the Art Association in Millersburg and Susquehanna. They volunteered support to the art shows in Monroe Michigan, as well as the Junior League thrift shop, by organizing bake sales to raise money. Barbara also enjoyed making apple dumplings to help raise money for her son Richard's Boys Scout troop's trip to Mexico in 1975. While in West Virgina, she became a Brownie leader for her daughter's troop. Barbara was a loving, generous soul, who often played card games with her great-grandchildren and enjoyed being close to her family.

Left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Terri (Straub ) Whary and husband, Marlin; two granddaughters, Ann Marie Holmes and husband, Chris, and Lauri Ann Seiler and husband, Corey; two great-grandchildren, George Richard Augustitus and Hailey Lane Meiser; two nieces, Sandy Gaudreau and husband, Tom, and Lauri Kienzlen; two great-nephews, Ryan and Drew Kienzlen, and a great-great-niece, Skyla Kienzlen.

She was preceded in death by a son, Richard S. Schoenberger Jr.; a sister, Lois M. Stange; a brother-in- law, O.J. Stange, and a son-in-law, Kerry L. Straub.

SCHOENBERGER — Barbara Ann Schoenberger, 88, of Overlook Ridge, Coal Township. A funeral service will be held Thursday at Riverview Memorial Gardens, Halifax. Funeral arrangements are being provided by Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home.
