THARPTOWN — Betty Willis, 91, of 617 Center St., passed away Tuesday evening, June 17, 2014, in her residence while in the company of family members.
She was born Aug. 18, 1922, in Coal Township, a daughter of the late Anna (Hine) and Blair W. Faust.
She attended Coal Township High School.
She was married to John Willis, who preceded her in death.
Betty worked as a seamstress at various local garment factories and was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers' Union.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Barbara Willis, and John and Trish Willis, all of Coal Township; five grandchildren, Tom and Andria Taylor, and Robert and Amy Taylor, all of Coal Township, and Megan Varano, of Colorado; five great-grandchildren, Trevor Taylor, Julia Taylor, Sara Jane Taylor, Dyland Taylor and Ben Ginck; seven brothers and sisters, Hilda Militti and Anna Kramer, both of Maryland, Lillian Faust and Edward Faust, both of Coal Township, Elizabeth Linderman, of Sunbury, Ben Faust, of Virginia, and William Faust, of West Cameron Township.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Joann Willis; a grandson, Steven Willis; two sisters, Marion Weikel and Helen Pearson, and five brothers Donald, James, Walter, Clinton and Blair Faust.
WILLIS — Betty Willis, 91, of 617 Center St., Tharptown. A funeral service will be announced and held at a later date at Salem United Church of Christ, Coal Township, with the Rev. Joan Eckrod officiating. There will not be a viewing or visitation. The Willis family has entrusted funeral arrangements to the James Kelley Funeral Home, 1001 W. Arch St. at Maple St., Coal Township.
