SUNBURY — Chester A. Mowery, 78, of 3160 State Route 61, Sunbury, passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born Oct. 24, 1934, in Danville, he was a son of the late Charles and Maude (Hill) Mowery.
On Aug. 10, 1955, he married Jane Kerstetter, who survives.
He was the owner-operator of Chester A. Mowery and Son Excavating, along with his son, Kevin.
He was a member of the Millers Crossroads United Methodist Church, CEPA 'Coon Hunter's Club, Moline Gold Collectors Association and a life member of the Stonington Volunteer Fire Company. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, collecting Minneapolis Moline Tractors, 'coon hunting, woodworking and camping.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Deb McPherson and her husband, Mike, and Karen Brandau and her husband, Tim; a son, Kevin Mowery; a daughter-in-law, Judy Mowery; his grandchildren, Heather and Tony Nickey, Amanda and Seth Jackson, Teresa Blue and her fiance, Jesse Whary, Andrew Derr, Melissa Brandau, Matthew Brandau and Danielle Mowery; his great-grandchildren, Brayden Derr, Connor Nickey, Taylor Nickey, Makenzie Jackson, Maelyn Jackson, Nolan Whary and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Chester J. Mowery; two brothers, Daniel Mowery and Lamar Mowery, and a brother-in-law, William Ramage.
MOWERY — Chester A. Mowery, 78, of 3160 State Route 61, Sunbury, Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Millers Crossroads United Methodist Church, Stonington with Pastor Michelle Beissel officiating. Committal services will follow at the Millers Crossroads United Methodist Church Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. The Leonard J. Lucas Funeral Home, Shamokin, is in charge of the arrangements.
