SHAMOKIN — Daisy LaRue Weikel, 87, of 178 E. Cameron St., passed away at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Mountain View: A Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Coal Township, where she had been a resident since December.
Born Sept. 12, 1926, in Tharptown, she was a daughter of the late Ray Michael and Violet Susan (Arnold) Michael.
She was a 1943 graduate of Coal Township High School.
On June 29, 1946, she married Wilmer Clifford, who preceded her in death on Aug. 9, 1991.
She worked as a housewife.
Daisy was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Shamokin.
Surviving are two daughters, Cynthia Ann Powell and her husband, James, of Shamokin, and Debra Louise Bordell and her husband, Edward, of Locust Gap; a son, Bruce Clifford Weikel, and his wife, Carol, of Sunbury; seven grandchildren, James Robert Powell, Heather Ann Puttmann, Sean Michael Bordell, Ann Denise Bordell, Lisa Catherine Bordell and Steven Weikel; nine great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Viola Snyder Ellington, of Florida, and several nieces and nephews.
WEIKEL — Daisy LaRue Weikel, 87, of 178 E. Cameron St., Shamokin. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Farrow Funeral Home, Sixth and Chestnut Streets, Shamokin, with the Rev. Zack Hopple officiating. Burial will be in the Blue Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to First United Methodist Church, 202 E. Sunbury St., Shamokin, PA 17872.
