Donald H. "Doc" Slotterback Sr.

ELYSBURG — Donald H. "Doc" Slotterback Sr., 80, of 223 Campground Road, died suddenly Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at his home.

Born in Mount Carmel, Nov. 16, 1932, he was a son of the late Harry and Margaret (Shaffer) Slotterback.

On Nov. 14, 1953, in the United Methodist Church, Catawissa, he married the former Kathryn Klemick. Together, they celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary in November.

Donald served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955.

He and his wife enjoyed watching Pastor John Hagee every week on GETV.

Donald was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed his many hunting and fishing outings.

In addition to his wife, Kathryn, he is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Kathy and Dennis Eckrote, of Drums, Carol Horn, of Bloomsburg, and Karen and Dave Maurer, of Catawissa; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Donald Slotterback Jr., of Lopez, James and Christine Slotterback, of Catawissa, and Jerry and Lisa Slotterback, of Elysburg; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Minnie Stine, of Sunbury, Shirley Payeskie, of Elysburg, and Alberta Long, of Coal Township; a brother, Allen Slotterback, of Sunbury, and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Martha Slotterback and Betty Thomas, and two brothers, Charles and Leonard Slotterback.
