Donald Robert Hockenberry

PAXINOS — Donald Robert Hockenberry, 50, of 163 Main St., formerly of Kulpmont, passed away peacefully Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, at the Sugar Creek Nursing Home, Worthington.

He was a son of Judith (Basalay) and the late Robert Hockenberry, of Shamokin.

He was educated at St. Casimir's School, then Mount Carmel Area School District.

He enjoyed fishing, boating, water skiing, swimming and snowmobiling. He was known as "Mr. Fix It." He loved working on car motors and everything else. He also loved joking around with friends and family.

In addition to his mother, Donald is survived by a stepfather, Charles "Bud" Lucas, of (Mowry) Ashland; a sister, Judith Ann (Hockenberry) and husband, Bart "Bucky" McCollum, of Mount Carmel; a brother, Joseph Politza, of Kulpmont; a life long companion and friend, Wendy Raup, of Paxinos; three halfsisters; two uncles, Bernard Basalay and wife, Susan, of Delta, and Hennie Hockenberry, of Florida; an aunt, Evelene Gemberling, of Shamokin; two great-aunts, Mildred (Andrescavage) Moleskie, of Williamsport, Md.; and Pearl (Basalay) Marcheski, of Florida; two nephews, David Brown, of Mount Carmel, and Brandon Brown, of Shamokin, and two great-nephews, Keegan and Kaden Brown, of Mount Carmel.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bernard and Martha (Andrescavage) Basalay, of Kulpmont; paternal grandparents, Donald and Edith (Hockenberry) Perry, of Shamokin; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

HOCKENBERRY — Donald Robert Hockenberry, 50, of 163 Main St., Paxinos, and formerly of Kulpmont. Relatives, friends and neighbors are invited to attend a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Church of Our Lady, 47 S. Market St., Mount Carmel, with the Rev. David Dormer officiating. Burial will be in St. Casimir's Cemetery, Mount Carmel Township. At the request of the deceased there will not be a viewing. C.J.
