MIDDLETOWN — Dorothy Louise Mihalik, 91, passed away Dec. 8, 2013, in Middletown. She was born Aug. 1, 1922, in Shamokin, the daughter of Polish immigrants Marion and Anna Pencoski.
She attended St. Stanislaus Elementary School and graduated from Coal Township High School in 1940.
She married Albert J. Mihalik, of Shamokin, who preceded her in death Oct. 13, 1980, ending a marriage of 36 years. Dorothy resided in Shamokin for most of her life and then lived in Bridgeport, Ohio, and Reading, Hershey and Middletown in Pennsylvania.
Surviving her are three children and their spouses, John A. and Victoria Loeffler Mihalik, of Orangeville; Earl and Theresa Mihalik Herb, of Hummelstown, and Joseph J. and Deborah Solovan Mihalik, of Findlay, Ohio. Dorothy is also survived by five grandchildren, Michael and Austen Henderson Martini, Craig and Mary Martini Castriano, Drew and Lydia Carpenter Mihalik, Derek and Janae Ferguson Mihalik and Dennis Mihalik; five great-grandchildren, Matthew Martini, Joseph James Mihalik, Elizabeth Mae Mihalik, Donovan Mihalik and Deidre Mihalik, and a great-great grandchild, James Calder Mihalik.
Dorothy was a kind, gentle woman who set an example for how we should live and treat others. We were fortunate to have her with us all of these years.
