COAL TOWNSHIP — Eugene C. Frey, 72, of Stremback Street, Lavelle, passed away Monday, March 25, 2013, at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital.

Born in Shenandoah, June 17, 1940, he was a son of the late Ina Brown.

He was of the Protestant faith.

He graduated from J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah, and from Penn State University with a degree in rehabilitation education. He worked as a social worker for Schuylkill County MH/MR program and later REDCO Group.

He was a U.S. veteran, a member of the American Legion Post, Ashland, and a member of the Penn State Alumni Association.

Surviving are his wife Gale (Hepler) Frey, of Lavelle; two sons, Steven Frey and his wife, Debbie, of Manheim, and Erik Frey and his wife, Tiffany, of Palmyra; a sister, Diane Korenda, of Shenandoah, and four grandchildren, Chelsea, Gabriel, Lily and Justin.

FREY — Eugene C. Frey, 72, of Stremback Street, Lavelle. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home, Ashland, with the Rev. Jay Serafin officiating. Interment will be in Citizens Cemetery, Lavelle. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
