George Joseph Valania

LEBANON — George Joseph Valania, of 1412 Hemlock St., Shamokin, passed away Thursday, June 5, 2014, at the Veterans Medical Center.

He was born Feb. 21, 1938, in Shamokin, a son of Josephine and Joseph Valania.

George served 11 ½ years in the US Navy on the USS Randolph and on The Enterprise. After his honorable discharge he worked on pipeline construction.

Surviving George are his son and daughter-in-law, George and Donna Valania, of Hazlet, N.J.; daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Denny Bonshock, of Northumberland; son Greg Valania, of Reading; daughter Jackie Valania, of Shamokin; grandchildren, Denny and Katie Bonshock; Brian, Michelle and Jonathan Valania, and great-grandchildren, Evan and Cameron Bonshock, Layla Ritz and Adriana Valania. He is also survived by a brother, James.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph, Butch and Jerome, and two sisters, Joan and Sandra.

VALANIA — George Joseph Valania, of 1412 Hemlock St., Shamokin. A memorial service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. C.J.
