Gerald G. "Pork" Swinehart, 70, of Herndon, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at the home of his sister, Jane Taylor, of Trevorton Road. He was in ill health for the past several months.
He was born Nov. 20, 1943, in Danville, a son of the late George E. and Mildred M. (Crissinger) Swinehart. He lived most of his life in Herndon.
He was a 1961 graduate of Trevorton High School.
On Nov. 3, 1962, he married the former Patricia Kimmel, who preceded him in death.
Early in life, he worked at the former Mandata Poultry Plant. He retired as a truck driver for Meckley's Limestone Products, Herndon.
Gerald was of the Protestant faith.
Surviving are a son, Jeffrey A. Swinehart, of Monmouth, Ore.; four grandchildren, Kathryn Plummer and her husband, Skyler, Joseph Swinehart, Tanner Swinehart and Collin Swinehart; two sisters, Jane Taylor and her husband, Howard, of Trevorton Road, and Joan Smith and her husband, Jim, of Middleburg RR; two special great-nephews, Andrew and Josh Groninger, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Swinehart.
Services were held Friday, Feb. 21, at the Robert G. Foust Jr. Funeral Home, 841 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton, with the Rev. Daniel Conklin officiating. Burial was in Herndon Cemetery.
