MOUNT CARMEL — Geraldine "Gerry" Palewicz, 87, of 443 W. Cherry St., passed away Friday, June 21, 2013, in her residence.
She was born in Mount Carmel, April 3, 1926, a daughter of the late Joseph Rovnak and Bertha Moluker. She was a lifelong resident of Mount Carmel.
She was a graduate of Mount Carmel High School.
Geraldine was married in St. John the Baptist Church, Mount Carmel, May 26, 1951, to Leo F. Palewicz, who preceded her in death Feb. 25, 1999.
She worked as a clerk in several women's clothing stores, including Henley's and Joe-Marie Bridal in Mount Carmel.
She was a member of Divine Redeemer Church, the former Mother of Consolation.
She was also a member of the Carmelite Over 50 Club, Mount Carmel Senior Action Center, Red Hat Club and Mount Carmel Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends.
Geraldine is survived by two sons, Michael Palewicz and his wife, Kathy, of Mount Carmel, and Martin Palewicz and his wife, Dawn, of Den Mar Gardens; a grandson, Brian Palewicz, of Wakefield, Mass.; a granddaughter, Alyssa Palewicz, who is attending Syracuse University in New York, and nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Rovnak, and a sister, Florence Rovnak.
PALEWICZ — Geraldine "Gerry" Palewicz, 87, of 443 W. Cherry St., Mount Carmel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Divine Redeemer Church with the Rev. Martin O. Moran III as celebrant. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Bear Gap. A viewing will be held from 9 until 10:45 a.m. in the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Divine Redeemer Church, 438 West Ave., Mount Carmel, or the Mount Carmel Public Library, 30 S. Oak St., Mount Carmel. C.J. Lucas Funeral Homes, 27 N. Vine St., Mount Carmel, C.J. Lucas IV, supervisor, has charge of the arrangements.
