SUNBURY — Gordon Robert DeHart, 58, retired claims adjustor, a son of the late Rodman Harold DeHart and the late Sally Elizabeth Mason, passed away Friday, May 3, 2013, in Sunbury after a lengthy illness.
At the time of his death, he was at home surrounded by his loving family and Pastor Dave Butler, who greatly comforted the family.
He was born in Wilkes-Barre, Nov. 15, 1954, but grew up and lived most of his life in Bethlehem.
He was a 1972 graduate of Liberty High School in Bethlehem, and also graduated from Churchman's Business School in Easton and the National American University in Rapid City, S.D. (formerly the National College of Business).
Gordon loved the outdoors, particularly the mountains of Pennsylvania. He spent his free time camping and four-wheeling with his wife, Barbara, and family and friends, along the many trails of the Pennsylvania State Forest lands in Clinton County, where he had a second home. He was also a devoted Phillies fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR racing.
Surviving are his widow, the former Barbara Dobson Sosnoski, of Shamokin; from a former marriage, two sons, Matthew and David, of Lansford; a stepdaughter, Tammy, of Kulpmont; two brothers, Rod and his wife, Lori, of Bethlehem, and David and his wife, Mary, of Wisconsin; a sister, Laura and her partner, Jerri, of Georgia; a sister-in-law, Mathlene and her husband, Dennis; four grandchildren, Noah, Sarah, Cody and Kaitlin, and a stepgrandchild, Jon.
Gordon also leaves behind three devoted dogs, Chaucey, Angel and Janie.
