LOCUSTDALE — Harold A. Wesner Sr., 88, of 279 Main St., Ashland, passed away at 11:54 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2013, at the home of his son, Harold Wesner Jr., 3083 Main St.
He was born in Mount Carmel, Sept. 9, 1924, a son of the late Frank and Sadie (John) Wesner.
He served as a TEC 5 in the U.S. Army during World War II
in Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe.
On July 1, 1950, he married the former Irene Moser, who survives.
He worked for Kennedy Van Saun in Danville for more than 10 years and also worked in local mines.
He was a member of the Mount Carmel American Legion, and he enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He attended Church of Christ in Christian Union, Mabel.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Irene, are three children, Dianne Bilda and her husband, Joseph, of Wilburton, Shirley Chesney and her husband, Richard, of Kulpmont, and Harold Wesner Jr. and his wife, Mary, of Locustdale; seven grandchildren, Joseph Bilda, Kelly Bilda, Richard Chesney, Melissa Wesner, Amy Gardner, Kimberly Wesner and Jazmarie Wesner; two great-grandchildren, Chase Bilda and Liam Gardner; two brothers, Wilbur and Clifford Wesner, and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Sam and George Wesner.
WESNER — Harold A. Wesner Sr., 88, of 279 Main St., Ashland. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Willard A. Rothermel Funeral Home, 120-122 S. Market St., Mount Carmel, Ray W. Rothermel, director. The Revs. John Clough and David Stout will officiate. Interment will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Mount Carmel Township. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
