Harry Minnich Jr.

Harry Walter "Jeps" Minnich , age 90, of 3 Farm Lane, Hegins, died Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Schuylkill Medical Center - E. Norwegian, Pottsville.

He was born on Sunday, July 22, 1923, in Hegins, a son of Harry W. Minnich and Crusie E. (Artz) Minnich.

He was a graduate of Hegins Township High School where he was involved in baseball, basketball, soccer and track.

He was a poultry farmer and worked 29 years at Romberger Furniture of Valley View.

Jeps was a 38 year member of the Hegins Township Water Authority, a 50 plus year member of the Park Association, a member of the shoot committee for the former pigeon shoot, a member of the Republican committee and served for 29 years on the United Church of Christ of Hegins Church Council. He served 12 years on the Hegins Township School Board and was a past president.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Jeffrey Minnich and Daniel Minnich, and two sisters, Mary Alice Neuman and Irene Umholtz.

He is survived by his wife Annabelle (Kessler) Minnich, to whom he was married for almost 66 years; one son, Scott Minnich and his wife Kristen of Germansville, PA; Daniel's three step-children; and nieces and nephews.

Services were held at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Monday, March 24, with Rev. Duane Bardo officiating. Burial was in Fountain Community Cemetery, Hegins PA 17938. Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, was in charge of arrangements.
