James T. Rowland Sr.

LAVELLE — James T. Rowland Sr., 83, of 331 Main St., passed away at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at Mount Carmel Senior Living Center.

Born in Gordon March 25, 1929, he was a son of Anna Rebecca (Bechtel) Trommetter.

He served as a corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

James was married to the former Theresa Swayer, who survives him.

He worked as a mechanic for many years at the Dunlap Garage, Mount Carmel, and last worked as a supervisor in plastic extruding at Cadillac Cable and Gerwain Chemical.

He liked to hunt and fish, and enjoyed going to yard sales.

In addition to his wife, James is survived by three children, James Jr. and wife, Mary, of Mount Carmel, Renae Knorr and husband, Ray, of Hegins, and Ruby Berger and husband, James, of Fountain Springs; five grandchildren, Kimberly Duceman, Jamie Rowland III, Duane Knorr, Krista Jusinski and Ashley Berger, and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Regina Rowland, and a sister, Ester Arnold.

ROWLAND — A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Willard A. Rothermel Funeral Home, Mount Carmel, with the Rev. Joan Brown officiating. Interment will be at Sunnyside Cemetery, Lavelle. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Funeral Director Ray W. Rothermel has charge of the arrangements.
