Joan E. Kintzel, 80, of Pine Grove, died Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street.
Born in Ravine, Feb. 17, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Loretta Lehman Lehr.
Joan was a graduate of Pine Grove High School and had been employed with the custodial services staff of Pine Grove Area School District.
She was a member of Schuylkill Church of the Brethren and served as its ladies aide.
Joan was a former member of the Schuylkill County Quilters Guild. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and sewing.
Preceding her in death were three brothers, William Lehr, Carl Lehr and Harry Lehr; and a sister, Verna Starinsky.
Surviving are her husband, Monroe A. Kintzel, to whom she would have been married 63 years this July; two daughters, Debra Joseph and Brenda, wife of Robert Beuchler, both of Pine Grove; two sons, Michael Kintzel, Tremont, and Kevin Kintzel, Pine Grove; seven grandchildren, Korin Sutherland, Casey Turner, Joshua Beuchler, Mark Beuchler, Eric Kintzel, Darryl Kintzel and Letitia Kintzel; 16 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Eugene Lehr, College Park, Md.
Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 16 with Pastor Richard Hoffman officiating. All services were held in Schuylkill Church of the Brethren, 347 Sweet Arrow Lake Road, Pine Grove. Interment followed in Schuylkill Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
