POTTSVILLE — Joan M. Templar, 80, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at ManorCare Health Services, where she was a resident the past five years.
She was born in Ashland, May 26, 1932, a daughter of the late Francis and Laura (Glowacki) Deja.
She was a Mount Carmel resident prior to going to ManorCare.
Joan attended Mount Carmel Parochial School and Mount Carmel High School.
On May 26, 1956, in St. Joseph's Church, Mount Carmel, she was married to Lowell "Joe" Templar, who preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker.
She was of the Roman Catholic faith and attended Church of Our Lady prior to going to ManorCare.
Joan was a loving mother and proud grandmother. She found joy in simple things such as shopping at yard sales and at thrift stores. She always had a smile and a kind word for everyone.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary John, of Elysburg; two sons, Michael Templar and his wife, Nedra, of Shamokin, and David Templar, of Mount Carmel; three grandchildren, Laura John, Thomas Templar and Celine Templar, and one brother, Thomas Deja and his wife, Josephine, of Wildwood, N.J.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Templar.
TEMPLAR — Joan M. Templar, 80, of ManorCare Health Services, Pottsville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Church of Our Lady, 47 S. Market St., Mount Carmel, with the Rev. Francis Karwacki as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Mount Carmel.
