MOUNT CARMEL — Joseph Smallets Sr., 51, of 210 E. Seventh St., passed away Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at his residence.
Joseph was born in New Brunswick, N.J., Dec. 11, 1962, a son of Rose (Sahtyla) Nissel, of Richfield, and the late John "Jack" J. Smallets.
He was of the Catholic faith.
He served in the U.S. Army.
Joe was an avid Earnhart fan.
He is survived by three sons, Joseph Smallets Jr., and his fiance, Dawn Kroh, of Girardville, Ryan Joseph Smallets, and his companion, Lindsey Haines, of Ranshaw,and Brandon Michael Smallets, of Mount Carmel; his mother, Rose; a brother, John "Jack" Smallets, of Arcadia, Fla.; two sisters, Rose Marie Wilson, of Thompsontown, and Maria Guinn, of Knoxville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Gaige A. Kroh and Lydiah Smallets, both of Girardville, and Raymond Gallagher III and Lilly Gallagher, both of Pennsburg; a fiance, Gwenn Gallagher, of Mount Carmel, and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father; mother, Betty Smallets; brother, Dwayne Smallets; sister, Jeanna Marie Smallets, and grandparents, John "Smiley" Smallets, Helen Smallets and Mary Sahtyla.
SMALLETS — Joseph Smallets Sr., 51, of 210 E. Seventh St., Mount Carmel. A religious funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at James Kelley Funeral Home, 1001 W. Arch St. at Maple Street, Coal Township with Mother Cabrini parish friar officiating. Family members and friends will be received from 10:3 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow services at All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg.
