Josephine "Jo" Procopio

WAUKESHA, Wisc. — Josephine "Jo" Procopio, formerly of Shamokin, passed away peacefully at 11:25 a.m. Thursday, July 18, 2013.

She was born in Shamokin and lived in the Shamokin area until the last two months of her life, when she moved to Waukesha, Wisc., to reside with her daughter and son-in-law.

Jo attended Shamokin schools.

In St. Edward's Church, Shamokin, she married Felix "Sammy" Procopio, who preceded her in death. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary before his passing.

She was a member of Our Lady of Hope Church, Coal Township. Jo was a passionate weather-watcher and geography buff. She enjoyed traveling to more than 15 states and to her parents' home country of Italy during her lifetime. She loved gardening, cooking, baking and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her laughter, love of family and homemade spaghetti sauce and meatballs will be greatly missed by all.

Surviving are two children, Charles Procopio, of Shamokin, and Linda Fedorczak and her husband, Joseph, of Waukesha, Wisc.; three grandchildren, Alicia Bartz and her husband, Peter, Laurie Tierney and her husband, Austin, and Christopher Fedorczak and his wife, Lauren; five great-grandchildren, Maddie, Sam, Ella, Paige Josephine and Hazel; a sister, Mary Tyson, of Shamokin; two sisters-in-law, Barbara, of Shamokin, and Rose Kline, of New Berlin; a brother-in-law, Frank "Jimmy" Procopio, of Shamokin, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Alexander (Lee).

PROCOPIO — Josephine "Jo" Procopio, formerly of Shamokin, and of Waukesha, Wisc. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Hope Church, Coal Township with the Rev. Adrian Gallagher at celebrant. Burial will be in St. Edward Cemetery, Coal Township. Viewing will be held from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Thursday in the church. The Olley-Gotlob Funeral Home, 539 Race St., Sunbury, is in charge of the arrangements.
