MARION HEIGHTS — Juliet (Yakim) Swartz, 86, of 442 North St., passed away Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where she was a patient since Sunday.
She was born at home in Marion Heights, July 27, 1927, a daughter of the late Alex and Mary (Zazula) Yakim.
Juliet was a graduate of Kulpmont High School and was a lifelong resident of Marion Heights. She worked at various clothing factories throughout the area.
On June 21, 1946, in the Patronage of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Marion Heights, she married Chester Swartz, who preceded her in death Jan. 7, 1983.
Juliet was a member of the Patronage of Mother of God Church. She enjoyed playing bingo and reading historical romance books.
Survivors include a son, John Swartz and his wife, Ann, of Atlas; a daughter, Cheryl Polito and her husband, the Rev. Donald Polito, of Pittsburgh; two grandchildren, Cory Swartz, of Shamokin, and Sam Polito, of Pittsburgh; a sister, Justina Bazylewicz, of Chester; a beloved niece, Alexis Fasolka, of Marion Heights, and her cat, Max.

A Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at the Patronage of Mother of God Church, 155 Melrose St., Marion Heights, with the Rev. Rusland Romanyuk as celebrant. Burial will be in the Patronage of Mother of God Cemetery, Marion Heights. Viewing will be held from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Monday, with panahyda service at 10:15 a.m., at the C.J. Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 1053 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, C.J. Lucas, supervisor.
