Leon C. Malkoski

MOUNT CARMEL — Leon Christopher Malkoski, 40, of 39 N. Locust St., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, at home.

He was born Jan. 17, 1973, in Mount Carmel, a son of Raymond R. and Mary Ann (Novroski) Malkoski, of Mount Carmel.

Leon graduated from Mount Carmel Area Junior/Senior High School and also attended Northumberland County Vo-Tech School where he studied electronics.

He served with the U.S. Air Force where he studied satellite communications and was a chaplain.

On Sept. 4, 1999, in Shamokin, he married the former Stacy Madara, who survives.

Leon was a correctional officer at the Northumberland County Prison for ten years.

He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, where he served as an altar boy until he was 18, and a member of the Atlas American Legion Post 804.

Leon lived the simple life and was satisfied with the little things life offered. He enjoyed being outdoors whether it was walking in the woods or swimming in a pond that he discovered. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. His deepest devotion was to his children, as he loved taking them out for a ride in his dune buggy or just playing as a good father does. Leon touched many lives and will be remembered for his sense of humor, his uncanny love of animals and mostly his family.

In addition to his wife and his parents, he is survived by four sons, Daniel Malkoski, 17, of Shamokin, Leon Malkoski Jr., 16, Colin Malkoski, 11, and Skylar Malkoski, 8, all of Mount Carmel; a brother, Christopher R. Malkoski, of Kulpmont; a sister, Raylene Malkoski and her fiancé, Nathan Weaver, of Mount Carmel; his mother-in-law, Betty Madara, of Coal Township; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lisa and Terry Weidner, of Coal Township; two nieces, Tonya Henninger, of Shamokin, and Briana Malkoski, of Kulpmont, and four nephews, Bobby Marcheski, of Mount Carmel, Christopher Malkoski, of Florida., Nathaniel Malkoski, of Kulpmont, and Chase Weaver, of Mount Carmel.
