Louise D. Evans

MOUNT CARMEL — Louise D. Evans, 85, of 1 S. Chestnut St., passed away at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, in the Manor at Penn's Village, Selinsgrove.

Born July 19, 1928, in Mount Carmel, she was a daughter of the late Leroy and Mary (Melnick) Berkheiser.

She was a 1946 graduate of Mount Carmel High School.

On Dec. 18, 1948, in the First Church of God, Mount Carmel, she married Ron Evans, who survives.

Louise had worked for Westinghouse in Sunbury, and had also worked in the Mount Carmel A&P in its meat department and as a cashier.

She was a long time member of the former First Church of God, Mount Carmel, where she was a member of the Willing Worker's Class and the choir and was a Sunday School teacher. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Shamokin. Louise was a good cook and loved cooking programs.

In addition to her husband, she was survived by two sisters-in-law, Maxine Berkheiser, of Bristol, and Nancy Berkheiser, of St. George, Utah, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers Bob and Bill Berkheiser.

EVANS — Louise D. Evans, 85, of 1 S. Chestnut St., Mount Carmel. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Willard A. Rothermel Funeral Home, Ray W. Rothermel, director, 120 S. Market St., Mount Carmel, with Pastor Samuel Derr officiating. Interment will be in the Mount Carmel Cemetery. Viewing will be from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
