Marlin W. Schreffler, 90, of Pitman, died Thursday, Nov. 15, at the Friendly Nursing Home in Pitman.
He was preceded in death by his wife Betty J. (Morgan) Schreffler who passed away May 11, 2008.
Born Monday, Aug. 7, 1922 in Pitman he was a son of the late William F. and Jennie (Houck) Schreffler.
He graduated from Hegins Township High School and established the family business currently known as Schreffler Equipmnet, Inc., Pitman.
He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church of Pitman, a member of the F&AM Valley Lodge No. 797 of Valley View, Harrisburg Consistory AASR, and the Woodmen of the World Lodge of Pitman. Marlin was a member of the Mahantongo Fire Company and instrumental in the creation of both the fire company and the Mahantongo Valley Ambulance Association.
Surviving are three children Faye R. Lubold of Towanda, Nancy L. Smeltz and her husband James of Denver, PA and Randy L. Schreffler and his wife Patricia of Pitman, five grandchildren, Vicki Schmidt, Staphanie Boyle, Michelle Neuman, Andrew Schreffler and Eric Schreffler, seven great grandchildren, Devon Turner, Matthew Schmidt, Joseph Schmidt, Julia Boyle Elizabeth Boyle, Katherine Galizia, and Lyla Schreffler, one step great grandchild, Cole Focht; his one brother Russell Schreffler of Harrisburg; one sister Ruby Hepler; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister Anna Schreffler.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, Nov. 21, at St. James Lutheran Church, Pitman, with Rev. Warren Egebo officiating. Burial was in Jacob's Cemetery, Pitman. The Valley Lodge conducted a Masonic Service.
