COAL TOWNSHIP — Mary Carol Zurick, 58, of Coal Township, passed away peacefully Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, after a lengthy illness.
Born Aug. 3, 1954, she was a daughter of the late William P. and Anne (Lascoskie) Zurick.
She spent many years working in the Sunbury area, including positions at Sun-Com Industries and Sunbury Community Hospital. After retiring, she volunteered at the Northumberland County Area Agency on Aging and the Coal Township Elderly High Rise.
Mary Carol is most remembered for her devotion to her nieces and nephews, Joshua Spitzig, William Zurick III, Michelle Dymond, and her husband, Joshua, Rene Pickle, and her husband, Jamie, Maxinne and Cordelia Calnert, and Andrew, Stephanie and Anne Zurick, and her great-nieces and great-nephews.
She is survived by two sisters, Cecelia Zurick, of Coal Township, and Lorraine Calnert, and her husband, Dale, of Montclair, N.J.; four brothers, William Zurick Jr., and his wife, Mary, of Merritt Island, Fla., Joseph Zurick, of Seattle, Wash., James Zurick, and his wife, Sandy, of Paxinos, and Richard Zurick, of Sunbury. Mary Carol is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, with whom she maintained a close and loving relationship.
ZURICK — Mary Carol Zurick, 58, of Coal Township. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick's Church, 331 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton, with the Rev. Adrian Gallagher, O.F.M., Conv., as celebrant. Interment will follow Mass in the parish cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9 until 9:50 a.m. Wednesday in the church. The family will provide flowers and requests Mary Carol be memorialized with donations to the Shamokin-Coal Township Public Library, 201 E. Independence St., Shamokin 17872.
