DANVILLE — Mildred Sharp, a longtime resident of 12 S. Fourth St., Shamokin, and for the last year, of Maria Joseph Manor, Danville, passed away Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at Geisinger Medical Center.
Born April 22, 1913, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Florence (Kerstetter) Bixler.
Mrs. Sharp was a graduate of Shamokin High School, class of 1931, and Bloomsburg State Teachers College, and was a former teacher in the Lincoln School.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
On May 30, 1947, in the former Chestnut Street United Methodist Church, she married Richard Sharp, who passed away April 10, 1988.
She was profoundly grateful to her caring neighbors of many years, the Levens-Labosky families.
Survivors include a daughter, Margaret McCormick; a granddaughter, Cheryl Lewis and her husband, Cliff, of Jamison; a grandson, Ross Lewis, as well as several nephews and nieces.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Keene, and brothers, Carl, Chester, Marlin and Donald.
