Olga Vrona

EASTON — Olga Vrona, 83, of Easton, formerly of Shamokin, passed away Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at Lehigh Valley Hospice, Allentown.

Born in Excelsior, Feb. 12, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Anna (Fedorshock) Vrona.

She was a 1946 graduate of Shamokin High School.

Olga lived the early part of her life in Shamokin. In 1970, she moved to Palmer Township, near Easton, where she resided with her sister, Vera, for the past 42 years.

She was employed at the former Shroyer Dress Company in Shamokin for 24 years. For several years she worked at Grollman's Fashion Store in Easton. Most recently, she was employed at Grieff Company (Genesco), retiring in 1994.

While living in Shamokin, she attended Transfiguration Ukrainian Catholic Church.

She was a devoted member of the Friends of Mary Meuser Library in Easton, where she volunteered at the annual book fair and the monthly senior Bingo events.

Olga loved people and was kind and generous to everyone she met. She will be deeply missed by her family and close friends.

Survivors include a sister, Vera V. Holzer, of Palmer Township, with whom she resided; two brothers, Pete Vrona, and his wife, Nancy, of Columbus, Ohio, and Myron Vrona, and his companion, Susan Law, of Bethlehem; a sister-in-law, Margaret Vrona, of Shamokin; four nieces, two nephews, and their spouses and children.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Vrona, in 1985.


VRONA — A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday at the Stephen A. Chowka Funeral Home, 114 N. Shamokin St., Shamokin, with the Rev. Ruslan Romanyuk officiating. Interment will follow in Transfiguration Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Coal Township. A viewing will be held 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
