MOUNT CARMEL — Phyllis M. Erdman, 80, of Mount Carmel and formerly of East Cameron Township, passed away Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, at Mount Carmel Senior Living Community.
Born Sept. 18, 1933, in Shamokin, she was a daughter of the late Francis and Mary (Weikel) Hummel. Phyllis lived most of her life in East Cameron Township.
She was a graduate of Shamokin High School.
On July 7, 1956, in St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Gowen City, she married Roger (Snook) Erdman, who preceded her in death May 1, 1982.
She worked in local dress factories and was last employed at Weller Vending Company, Shamokin.
She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Gowen City. Phyllis enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her great-grandson, Brady. She also enjoyed playing bingo, pinochle, pokeno and watching TV.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Larry Joyce, of Mount Carmel; a grandson, Jason Bower, of Mount Carmel; a great-grandson, Brady Bower; a brother, Richard and his wife, Lois Hummel, of Ranshaw; two sisters-in-law, Harriet Wargo, of Ohio, and Jayne Erdman, of West Cameron, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, James Hummel.
ERDMAN — Phyllis M. Erdman, 80, of Mount Carmel and formerly of East Cameron Township. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Gowen City, with the Rev. Gerald Schlegel officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's UCC Church Cemetery, Gowen City. At her request, there will be no viewing. Visitation with the family will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the services in the church. The Robert G. Foust Jr. Funeral Home, 841 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton, is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 4881 Upper Road, Shamokin 17872.
