Raymond E. Deeter Jr., 86, of 1085 Deep Creek Road, Ashland, died Thursday, March 6, 2014 at his residence.
He was born on Sunday, March 4, 1928, in Hegins Twp., a son of the late Raymond E. Deeter, Sr. and Mabel Lucas Deeter.
He served in the US Army during World War II
He was a coal miner in several area coal mines and had retired from Kocher Coal Company.
He was a member of VFW
Post 7654 of Ashland.
Ray enjoyed fishing and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy M. Hubler Deeter, to whom he was married for 62 years.
He is also survived by four sons, Michael E. Deeter and his wife Jessica of Hegins, Gary L. Deeter and his wife Louise of Lavelle, Kenneth J. Deeter and his wife Sandra of Pahrump, NV, and Walter L. Deeter of Germany; four daughters, Ellen L. Boud of Sarasota, FL, Susan E. Morgan and her husband David of Gratz, Renee Witmer and her husband Carl of Pitman, and Bonita J. Shade and her husband Eric of Hegins; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; three sisters, Martha Bosco of Lavelle, Edna Klinger of Valley View, and Grace Herb of Valley View; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
