Robert A. Veach

MOUNT CARMEL — Robert A. Veach, 84, more affectionately known as "Pooch," of 415 W. Second St., passed away peacefully Monday, Dec. 10, 2012.

Born Aug. 6, 1928, he was a son of the late Carmen and Anna (Jerome) Veach, of Kulpmont.

He was educated in Kulpmont schools.

On June 26, 1948, in the former St. Peter's Church, he married the former Estelle Mirarchi, who survives.

He worked for many years as manager of the Bernstein Garment Factories, Mount Carmel.

He was a parishioner of Divine Redeemer Parish, Mount Carmel, after the parish merger.

Robert's greatest love was his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was also an avid sports fan and loyal supporter of the Mount Carmel Area Red Tornadoes. He rarely missed a game, and had a perfect attendance record for games in which his son and all five grandsons played. That support followed them into their respective colleges. He has left a legacy of devotion for his family to carry on.

By his friends, "Pooch" could be described as robust. He had a way of making his presence known and was always good for a laugh or two. Those who knew him closely, nonetheless, recognized that he had a heart of gold. He will be sadly missed by all whose life he touched.

In addition to his wife of 64 years, Stella, he is survived by a son, Robert and his wife, Donna, of Mount Carmel; a daughter, Valerie Koveleski and her husband, Mark, of Mount Carmel; five grandchildren, Robert Veach and his wife, Amy, of Selinsgrove, Brett Veach, of Philadelphia, Jonathan Veach, of New York City, Mark Koveleski, of Virginia, and Matthew Koveleski, of Mount Carmel; four great-grandchildren, Giovanna, Ella, Elijah and Wylan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph, of Lamplight Acres, Kulpmont.
