COAL TOWNSHIP — With arms wide open, the Lord gently carried Sophie "Jan" Leeman, home, on the morning of April 10, 2013.
Our loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother devoted the last nine years of her life offering her pain and suffering for the poor souls in purgatory. Now that her work here is complete, we pray that her soul may rest in the peace and fullness of the Lord.
One of four children, Mom was born Feb. 9, 1945, to John and Clara (Ferrick) Fukaczewski.
A 1963 graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes High School, she soon went to work as a secretary at the Pentagon. After moving back to the area, she was employed as an inspector at Jeff Manufacturing and later became a homemaker to stay home with her four children.
On Oct. 12, 1963, in St Stephen's Church, she became the wife of Robert Leeman. She was blessed with a long and happy marriage to her husband of almost 50 years, who provided her with tender loving care during her illness.
She will always be remembered by her children and grandchildren as loving wife, mother and devoted Catholic, whose deep faith and strong moral values were at the heart of everything she did.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children, Kenneth, and his wife, Tammy, of Coal Township; Anthony and his wife, Susan, of Shamokin; Debra and her husband, Lloyd, of Danville, and Michael, of Cressona. Her grandchildren include Justin and Micaela Leeman, Andrew and Alivia Leeman, Shannon and Joseph Breisch; and Christina (Breisch) Haley, and her great-grandchildren are Matthew, Benjamin and Christian Haley and Anna Marie Haley, who will arrive in June.
She is also survived by her sister, Clara Jones, and brother, James Ferrick, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceeded in death by her parents and her sisters, Mary and Gertrude Sienkiewicz.
Always in our hearts, dear Mom; forever in our prayers, dear MamMam, until we meet in heaven.
