COAL TOWNSHIP — Stanley F. Olszewski, 82, of 101 N. Ash St., Apt. 1108, formerly of 502 Bear Valley Ave., Shamokin, died at 1:27 a.m. Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
He was born in Shamokin, July 3, 1931, a son of the late Joseph and Anna (Splitt) Olszewski.
He was a lifelong resident of the Shamokin area.
He was employed in construction as a union laborer.
Stanley was married Feb. 19, 1955, in Stephen Church, Coal Township, to the former Anna L. "Nancy" Novasatka, who survives.
He attended St. Stanislaus Elementary School and Shamokin High School.
He was a member of Our Lady of Hope Church, Coal Township, Shamokin Moose, Knights of Columbus, St. Francis Home Association and Independence Fire Company.
Stanley served in the U.S. Army
from March 10, 1955, to Feb. 16, 1957. He then served in the Army Reserves until his honorable discharge April 30, 1963.
In addition to his wife, "Nancy," survivors include a brother, Florian Olsheskie, of Shamokin; a sister, Anna Biedrzycki, of Shamokin, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Olszewski, formerly of Paris, France, and Joseph Olszewski.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Our Lady of Hope Church, Coal Township. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Bear Gap. There will be no viewing or hours of calling. Those wishing to attend the Mass are asked to meet at the church at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday. Leonard J. Lucas Funeral Home, Ltd., 120 S. Market St., Shamokin, Leonard J. Lucas Jr., supervisor, has charge of arrangements.
